The Process Diamond Willow is a very unique wood. Every piece is different in shape and pattern, from small diamonds to very large swirls. At first the Diamond Willow appears as a scrubby tree in marshy or wet lowlands. The willow is then cut between the months of June and August. It is peeled immediately and stored inside to control cracking. Once peeled, it is aged for one year. The colors of the intenior heart can be from bright red to rich brown with a white exterior. As projects are designed and constructed, it can take many trees to become one piece of furninture. After roughing together a project, it is then taken apart, hand-carved, sanded and reassembled for finishing to the customers specifications. The pieces are then sealed into oil, varnish or poly. |
